” Run hard. Be strong. Think big.”
We encourage all of our seniors to bring props that signify what’s important to them. This senior wanted to capture his passion for running. We love when a senior is in their element. Then the portraits we take capture exactly who they are.

How the heck do you hang those prints? Don’t worry; we’re here to help with a few easy tips for portrait placement.
The day has arrived, you finally have your beautiful prints, you take them home and then comes the hard part….how do you hang them? It’s daunting to hang photos correctly on a wall. How high should they go? And then if it’s a collection of photos that’s a whole other ballgame.
At our studio we have
one main rule: Always make sure the focal point is at eye level. If you think
of it, museums and art galleries use this rule of thumb. Keep it eye level for
optimal viewing (You don’t want people straining to see it).
Of course adjust accordingly when furniture is involved. If you’re hanging above a sofa, over stairs, or in a hallway, consider all of the elements but make it comfortable to view.
But keep in mind; If
your picture is smaller than a 20X24, it’s too small to be seen above the couch
or mantle by itself (we’ll blog about the size factor more on another day 😉
When you’re working with a collection, the center of the focal picture should be approx. 60-65 inches from the floor (generally eye level or slightly above).
When you have a
grouping, think of it as one large picture and consider where the bottom and top
images should be placed to see everything well. The central picture should be
eye level.
If you’re still too nervous to put those holes in your walls, test out various heights with pieces of paper first…..and if you’re still not sure, call us! We gladly hang our clients’ beautiful portraits for them!
